Reviving endangered arts, crafts and musical heritage and promoting craftspeople of Khybe r Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a three-day art and craft exhibition was arranged by the Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) at Lok Virsa complex on Friday, May 28.
The KP Department of Social Welfare and Women Development in collaboration with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) organised the exhibition of products of home-based workers. The opening ceremony of the exhibition took place on Friday at Lok Virsa, which was graced by Federal Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdaus Ashiq Awan, Federal Minister for Special Initiatives Lal Khan and Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development Sitara Ayaz besides other high ranking government and officials of NGOs.
Speaking to media persons, Muslim Aid Programme Manager Economic Empowerment Syed Moeezuddin said that it is a good initiative of Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promote and project handicrafts and cottage industry in the province. This exhibition will provide a unique opportunity for home-based workers in the province not only to market their products at the national level but also to display and sell them directly to the public.
While informing about the Muslim Aid Hunerkada project he said that Muslim Aid running three Hunerkada Centers in Chakwal, Karachi and Jared. The products of Muslim Aid Hunerkada Jared were put on display to highlight the skills of our Hunerkada Centre women. The products put to exhibit include various items of embroidery, jewellery, bed covers, bags, table cloth, etc. Visitors appreciated the skills of Muslim Aid Hunerkada women and Muslim Aid handicrafts were lauded both by the government officials and masses in the exhibition. |
