Rainbow Family Adopts:

All those orphans & destitute children who:
Are working / street children to share the burden of subsistence income of their family
Are garbage collectors from waste bins & streets
Are rejected & abused by their employer, family & the society
Are not attending schools or, if at all, compelled to leave before grade 5
Belong to families living on less than $1/day

CASE STUDIES

Imran Ali Ishaq ID 3853 is 15 years old orphan child of Mohallah Peeran wala, Golra living in a very congested locality with 6 members including his grandmother and three siblings in one room house. He is studying in Islamabad Model College for Boys, in 3rd grade. The great disaster of Imran’s life was the death of his father (Muhammad Ishaq) after which the whole family suffered a lot in the form of financial crises. And no one was there to support this underprivileged family in this hard time. His mother (Surayya Parveen) was pregnant at the time of death of his father and was unable to feed her young children who are deprived of every happiness of life. Financial crises forces Imran’s mother to work hard and she decided to start work as a maid in pregnancy to feed her children and not to stop the education of Imran and other children.

Rainbow Family Programme’s intervention in Imran’s Life:

In these circumstances Imran’s mother came to know about Rainbow Family Programme through the Programme team and Imran was sponsored in January 2009. After sponsorship, family is not only managing Imran’s educational expenses without any depression but sponsorship amount also helps to fulfill some need of food and health.

Imran is getting coaching classes in child development center for the enhancement of his formal schooling and also informally he learned religious education in child development center. Imran has very good art skills which were explored in art activities of CDC.

Impact on Imran’s Life:

Sponsorship makes Imran able to get better grades in school and took very much interest in studies for working more hard to get better position in his class. Imran not only improving his formal school education but also flourishing through participation in child development center activities of day celebration, art and life skills and other personality development activities.

Sarah Fatima ID 1843 is 17 years old is orphan child living in Bagh Azad Jammu & Kashmir with her mother. She is studying in Spring Field School in intermediate. Sarah belongs to a family who was badly suffered from earth quack in 2005 and they were homeless after that misfortune. She has three siblings and catastrophe of her father’s death make whole family’s life more miserable and they were all alone, nobody is able to support them regularly which was great pressure for her family. Her mother was too dismayed about the financial situation of the family and upcoming expenses of her children which were the basic necessity of life.

Rainbow Family Programme’s intervention in Sarah’s Life:

Muslim Aid’s team gathered data from different schools and found Sarah to be eligible for Rainbow Family Programme support and her sponsorship started in 2007. Rainbow Family Programme provided Sarah’s Family educational support for education and now they are getting support for their food and health also which lessened Sarah’s mother’s depression about financial resources. Now Sarah’s mother is able to fulfill Sarah’s requirement.

Sarah Says “We are thank full to Muslim Aid donors and appreciate their efforts. And May Allah help you in your difficulties, stay blessed”.

Sarah’s schooling not only included formal schooling but also she has been taught religious education in previous years through child development center in Bagh and through school management also. She is now very much educated and grownup girl of 17, who knows her rights and their usage. She has learned in all her educational period that how to maintain a good character of herself and be mannered.  She is very obedient and brilliant student of her class.
