To provide relief to the communities devastated by the recent floods in Pakistan, Muslim Aid has provided food packs, clean drinking water, tents and NFIs to 10,000 flood-hit families of Nowshehra, Charsadda, Minwali, Shekarpur and Sakhar, said Muslim Aid Country Director Khobaib A Vahedy.
He said that Muslim Aid has allocated £2million for the relief operations in different parts of the country. Teams from Muslim Aid family (UK and Bangladesh) have arrived and participating with Muslim Aid Pakistan for providing relief to the affectees in the flood-hit areas of the country. A mobile hospital was initiated by Muslim Aid, comprising doctors and volunteers, who treated 5100 patients in Nowshehra and Charsada. He said that keeping in mind the expected increase in outbreak of the diseases, Muslim Aid will set up two inflatable hospitals in Southern Punjab and Sindh. Each hospital will be consisting of 20-bed and our paramedical staff will be present in the hospitals for 24/7 for providing healthcare facilities to allying humanity.
We are also in a process of importing mobile water purification systems. We plan to initiate water purification through 20 such mobile systems this week. Each system has a capacity of purifying 1,000 litres of water per day, he added. Our relief goods distribution was carried out with help of local community support, he noted.
