Mr. Vahedy told the audience that the US provided
US$ 0.1 million grant to for the provision of comprehensive health
facility to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of District
Charsada who had been hit by the worst flashfloods that wreaked
havoc in many parts of the country last year. The funds were efficiently
utilized to start OPD service, primary health care services, mother
and child health care services (MNCH), blood screening laboratories,
patient referral services Ambulance services, mobile health units
and health and hygiene services for the devastated IDPs.While
as Survey of Disaster Risk Reduction was also conducted to ask
the people about the risk reduction measurements they adopted
during the last year flood. “We have also successfully renovated
two basic health units (BHUs), one in union council Gulabad and
the other in UC Agra,” Mr. Vahedy disclosed. A Seven-day
health awareness campaign was also part of the project in which
healthcare Radio programmes, Live Talk shows and Radio Spots were
produced and run on different local and FM channels. The Country
Director of Muslim Aid Pakistan also thanked the local community
for their collaboration and support they provided throughout the
project. KPK Health Department Officials present in the ceremony
also appreciated the relief work and commitment of Muslim Aid
Pak for the flood affectees of Charsada district.
