Muslim Aid launches emergency Appeal to help victims of Pakistan floods

Once again Pakistan is facing critical challenges caused by Recent floods of 2011 triggered by heavy monsoon rains in Sindh province of the country .According to recent statistics , more than 350 are died among them 93 are women and 83 are children while a population of 7 million more is affected . according to the latest figures released by the country's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) the floods caused damage to an area of 7.987 million acres of Sindh Province and swept away standing crops in the whole affected areas of Badin,Sanghar,Nawab Shah and Mirpur Khahs districts.
Floods have affected all the 23 districts of Sindh province and completely damaged a total of 539,899 houses while another 848,412 houses have suffered partial damage.
More than 80,000 livestock have been washed away by flood waters in Sindh while cotton, banana, dates, chili and sugarcane on 2,800,000 acres of land have been destroyed or affected. About 31,960 villages have been badly affected by the floods.
An estimated 415,195 people are presently living in some 2,656 makeshift relief camps including schools and public buildings across Sindh,
Some 5.74 million people in different districts of the province have been affected by the floods and thousands of them are camped out on higher ground and roadsides.
The UN-led humanitarian community in Pakistan is seeking 337 million U.S. dollars from donor countries for an emergency response plan to support the government in addressing the needs of flood-affected families in Sindh .

In this hour of need Muslim Aid UK is once again on front foot to help out the affected people of Sindh Province.
Muslim Aid has distributed 700 NFIs in Badin where as Muslim Aid established a 25 bed hospital in Snaghar district where 8, 00,000/ are affected by devastating floods. Here 2 Male Doctors, 1 Lady doctor and 2 dispensers along with Muslim Aid team are serving the flood affectees with medical facilities where as a mobile medical unit will also be employed for the for flung areas as city is drowned and all district health facility units including Civil Hospital of the district are non-operational. Muslim Aid is also ensuring the availability of safe drinking water to the flood affected population and in this regard a water purification plant has been established in union council Sanghar which is providing safe drinking water to the 20000 families per day. Besides Badin and Sanghar 2 free medical camps are also working in district Mirpur Khas and providing the health facilities to the flood afeecties .Muslim Aid’s mission is “serving the humanity” and we will do everything we can to help the millions of children and families struggling to rebuild their lives.

   
   
Muslim Aid inflatable hospital of 25 beds is operational here and a 10 members team including 3 doctors and 2 paramedical staff are serving the affectees.
