Muslim Aid in Pakistan organized an event in celebration of 26th anniversary of Muslim Aid

Mr. Martin Dawson, Head of Basic Services Group DFID, said that though the development sector is far beyond the achievement of MDGs by 2015 but we cannot stop the struggle. “In fact we need to increase our efforts to attain this goal,” he said. He was addressing to the participants of an event organized to mark Muslim Aid Day here on Friday. He strongly emphasized on quality education. People from different sectors including education, media and development sector also attended in the event.
Khobaib A Vahedy, Country Director MAP, while speaking at the occasion of 26th Muslim Aid day celebrated across the globe, said that the achievement of Second Millennium Goal was the target to be met by 2015 and Muslim Aid in this regard was putting its maximum contribution in promoting education at primary level particularly among vulnerable societies. He said Muslim Aid was providing schooling to deprived children. “Our main objective is to bring every child from streets to schools”, he stated. On this occasion  Muslim Aid Pak Field Offic  education  and child development department actively participated in this event. Different competitions of essay writing and letter writing were arranged in which children attaining education in Muslim Aid education projects participated. Children performed PT show, some skits and delivered speeches.
Vice Chancellor of AllamaIqbal Open University Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Sani was the chief guest of the event. Addressing to the ceremony he appreciated work of Muslim Aid  for educational sector.

Enlightening  the audience Mr.Khobaib A vaheday said that various educational projects of Muslim Aid  are running through out Pakistan almost  in every province. He said Muslim Aid has established two education centers in BURMA and Tarlai, outskirts of Islamabad and Welcome to ScoolIntiative Project InJalozai. Muslim Aid Provided education to 4000 children both boys and girls in 27 schools with specific focus on creating awareness among the communities for girls’ education and health. Awareness about hygiene and good living practices. After the repatriation of most IDPs, MAP is running 8 schools with no formal set up with all the allied activities. While in Balochistan Muslim Aid started 14 community schools in Ziarat and Pishin after the earthquake 2008 and rehabilitated the government school structure. “Currently 8 community schools are being supported by Muslim Aid in Balochistan,” he informed the audience.
Mr. Vahedy further said that, in Rajanpur, MAP has constructed a girls’ primary school and up-graded the school to middle level to facilitate girls’ education in the area after primary schooling. “Community mobilization for enrollment in primary and middle section is also a part of this project,” he maintained.
He further enlightened the audience that Muslim Aid was running a project withthe name of Rainbow family where  destitute and orphan children were being taught free of cost.
Later on, prizes were distributed among the participating children.
