Improved Educational Standards
 

Muslim Aid Pakistan launched a project in March 2009 named “Improved Educational Standards in Rural Areas of Murree”. The focus of the project is the capacity building of school heads and primary teachers.

 

Objectives
  • To train school heads and primary level teachers for better standards of education
  • To form and activate School Management Committees (SMCs) for better working of schools and enhanced enrollment
Target Area
The target area of this project comprises of following 7 union councils of Tehsil Murree, District Rawalpindi.

  2. Tret
  3. Numbal
  4. Chahareyan
  5. Mussiari
  6. Ban
  7. Angori
Outcomes and Beneficiaries
  • 202 teachers were trained in teaching methodologies
  • 45 school heads were trained in school management
  • 50 schools with an average of 4 trained teachers
  • 7,800 students are able to get better education with modern teaching techniques
  • 55 community education committees are established for improvement of education standards
  • 25 Not-school going children (NSGC) were enrolled with support of community and Muslim Aid
  • Walks, Speech competitions as well as mass awareness session about health, hygiene and anti-drugs were conducted in 3 UCs
Deliverables

  • 1 exposure visit (Head Teachers)
  •  1 workshop (Head Teachers)
  • Training manuals specifically designed according to the capacity and requirements of the selected teachers
  • SMC Manuals/ TORs
  • Record of SMC meetings and activities
  • Increased enrollment in schools
  • A workshop on educational problems in private schools of rural and suburban areas
